MTB02 - French Army - French and Indian Wars Part 4

These are the second to last installment of MTB02 - French Army - French and Indian Wars army pack being painted by Graham. We met up for breakfast Sunday morning to exchange hostages. As always the figures have been beautifully executed and they put my own painting efforts to shame.

MTB02 - French Army - French and Indian Wars Part II

Amongst the goodies I received from Graham on Sunday morning was the latest installment for my French Army for the French and Indian wars. Nine natives, painted to the standard for which Graham is known. IMO, they look fantastic.

MTB02 - French Army - French and Indian Wars

On the 27th I was at the Abyss for a game of Sharpe's Practice. This was a play test of a scenario for the upcoming Fèves au Lard, the first-ever “Lardy Day” in Montréal, which will be held on January 17th, 2026. Graham took the opportunity to delivery to me the first figures from the following

MTB05 - British Regular Army (French & Indian War) Part 3

Thursday evening Graham popped by to SAGA night to make his deliveries. I received my final group of redcoats, an officer and eight men. Again Graham puts my painting to shame.

This is part of  the 15th Regiment of Foot. 15th Foot – Buff facings, white lace. (Louisburg, Plains of Abraham, Montreal).  The reason I selected the 15th was they were garrisoned in Halifax, Nova Scotia at the start (1758) of the French and Indians wars.

SAGA - Objective Markers

These are some objective markers that I painted up for possible use at the Montreal Saga Grand Melee event being held this upcoming Saturday (Nov 22nd). Three of them are the set FMT4 Hidden Lairs which I purchase from North Star Military Figures. The fourth was part of Bob Murch's the Masters of Devil Reef. They are part of the Cthulhu 28s Line and was included with the Kickstarter campaign. It may be available on its own but I do not know if that is the case or not. A sample archer from Claymore Castings is included for scale.

MTB05 - British Regular Army (French & Indian War) Part 2

Thursday night was a game night with our local club. Graham delivered the 2nd installment of the British forces to me for Muskets and Tomahawks, Six Highlanders and six American colonial militia figures. I asked that the Highlanders be painted as the 42nd Regiment with Blue facings. The unit was briefly deployed to Halifax in 1757. As always Graham did a superb job on the figures.

I added the comment about the Colonial Militia in recognition of how my family arrived in Nova Scotia. In 1758 Captain John Hinckley and his sons were part of the American colonial forces that marched from Annapolis Royal to the fortress of Louisbourg. They were part of the garrison who came to  demolish the great fortress while the troops of the regular army were redeployed to take part in the siege of Quebec. The expulsion of the Acadian had taken place in 1755. The remains of their settlements still doted the countryside. In 1759 a young John Hinckley (son of the Captain) was one of about 20 settlers who came up from Massachusetts to settle in what is now Truro, NS. The hard work of clearing the land having been achieved almost 150 years previously.

My source is the History and genealogy of the Hingley Family in Nova Scotia by A. E. Marble published in 1966

MTB05 - British Regular Army (French & Indian War)

Last May at Cangames in Ottawa I picked up a 300 point British Army designed to be used in Muskets & Tomahawks II. The figures are by North Star Military Figures. I was introduced to the game last year at the Montreal Historical Wargaming Club and liked the scale. The price was right and the figures were purchased from a dealer at the con.  I was fortunate enough to engage the services of a skilled, local painter and last Sunday he delivered the first 12 figures to me.

Purchases from Centuries Historical Miniatures & Tabletop Gaming.

Here are the figures with the rest of the rest of the loot I picked up in May. I came home with far less than I brought for sale and was happy with the trade off.

For the British regular units I asked that they be painted as the 15th Regiment of Foot. 15th Foot – Buff facings, white lace. (Louisburg, Plains of Abraham, Montreal).  The main reason was they were garrisoned in Halifax at the start (1758) of the French and Indians wars. Graham did not disappoint and the figures look fantastic. Photos below of 8 true men of the 15th Foot and 4 reliable Mohawks.

The total contents of the box are listed one the North Star website as

Pulp Figures - Assorted Miniatures

I am a fan of the figures produced by Bob Murch. Here is a sample of some recent figures of his that I have worked upon.  The first is Col Muzzy Bluderbooch. The figure is the 2021  Bob Murch's Movember Fund Raiser

 Col Muzzy Bluderbooch

From the Mystery and Horror line in the Pulp Figures Catalogue we have PMH 11 Triumph of Frankenstein! The Baron has unleashed his terrible creation! Or as I like to say,

the good doctor at work

And finally , available from Crucible Crush Miniatures we have the Masters of Devil Reef. They are part of the Cthulhu 28s Line. These figures were sculpted by Bob and were a Kickstarter that I backed.

Bonus Selection

These figures are not part of Bob Murch's work, but they are definitely pulp. They are part of the A Fistful Of Kung Fu Line by North Star Military Figures. North Star is also the source of  Pulp Figures available directly in the UK. The following figures are  AFOKF03 - Kung Fu Squad: The Demons
