Wow, just in time for the AHPC XIII, I received this evening a package containing 35 RAFM martian Gashants. I now have to patiently hunt down 35 Martian riders for these mounts.
There is one thing worse than painting miniatures, and that is to have unpainted miniatures. Captain's Blog will provide an audience, or in other words motivation, to stimulate my war game miniature painting productivity. In Halifax, we had a great group of gamers and we were constantly in competition with each other. I do not have the same community support in Montreal. I hope that by blogging regularly that I will force myself to paint more. Are you up to the challenge? Pick up a brush.

Awesome! I read a book on the scramble for africa and felt that the martians map pretty well onto various arab populations (like the mahdists being the unreasonable/uncivilized like the mountain martians/flyers). This made me think theres bound to be some earily converted historical plastics...just some head swaps. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to be there quite yet. The warlord mahdists....maybe. Wargames atlantic has some closeish stuff (afghans have too many long sleaves. The aztecs dont have the right equipment). Down the road they are making some indian mutiny sepoys and some afghan cavalry which might hit the right mark).
ReplyDeleteI was thinking along similar lines for some possible kit bashing to get an effect of Martian riders. I just looked at a couple of Nubian riders to see how they looked for scale
DeleteSome splendid beasts indeed!

God lord! These do breed quickly! Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteNothing like gaining a herd. I wonder what a herd of Gashants is called. Merry Christmas to you as well Ross.
